An illegal immigrant who raped and killed a woman in Maryland reportedly was granted access to the U.S. despite his MS-13 affiliation.

- “The sad fact is that [Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas] and the Biden Administration have failed to implement basic screening and vetting measures—such as checking with law enforcement officials in an alien’s home country—to ensure that those entering the U.S. are not dangerous criminals or known gang members,” the report said.
- The investigation details that the 17-year-old suspect in the case, who has not been named due to being underage, came to the border as an unaccompanied minor in March 2022.
- After being apprehended by Border Patrol, the suspect was transferred to a Health and Human Services facility before being released to an alleged first cousin.
- Two months later, the suspect raped and killed Kayla Hamilton, an autistic woman who lived in Aberdeen, Maryland.

“This callous disregard for the safety of Americans, in the name of expedited alien processing, resulted in the tragic and preventable murder of Kayla Hamilton,” the report reads.
BACKGROUND:
- Earlier last week, a suspect in Maryland accused of raping a 15-year-old girl was also reportedly an illegal alien.
- Jose Roberto Hernandez-Espinal was arrested after allegedly raping the young girl on a trail the week prior.
- The illegal immigrant was also accused of raping a woman and stealing jewelry at Burnt Mills East Special Park in Silver Spring, Maryland.
- A spokesperson with ICE said that Hernandez-Espinal immigrated to the United States from El Salvador in May.
- Hernandez-Espinal is currently facing charges for first-degree rape, first- and second-degree assault and armed robbery. He was also charged with kidnapping and weapons-related crimes.
