Ilhan Omar Calls U.S. One of the ‘Worst Countries’ Amid Military Tribute

Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sparked outrage last week after calling the United States “one of the worst countries” in the world, comparing President Donald Trump’s military parade to a dictatorship. “I grew up in a dictatorship and I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that,” Omar said during an interview on Democracy Now!’s YouTube channel.

The remarks were in reference to President Trump’s patriotic military parade held on Flag Day, which also marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and his 79th birthday. The celebration honored American service members and the nation’s founding—but Omar dismissed it as “millions of dollars [propping] himself up like a failed dictator.”

Her comments did not stop there. “This is not the country we were born in,” she declared. “This is not the country our Founding Fathers imagined.” She further urged Americans to reject the event, saying, “we should all collectively be out in the streets rejecting what is taking place this week.”

Omar accused Trump of “destroying our country” and claimed he “has hatred for the values that we have here in America.”

Critics blasted Omar’s remarks as deeply disrespectful. Fox News contributor Guy Benson called her hyperbole “appalling” and “astounding ingratitude.” David Hookstead of OutKick added, “Our men died to try to protect innocent lives in Somalia. I guess that sacrifice just doesn’t matter to Congresswoman Omar.”
