  • Archer was indicted in 2016 on charges of security fraud and convicted two years later for his role in fleecing an Indian tribe.

  • You can read the letter here.
BACKGROUND:
  • Federal prosecutors and courts are known to seize passports and put travel restrictions on those charged or convicted of crimes, as was done for the defendants of the Jan. 6 cases, in order to eliminate any flight risk.
  • Such was the case when Judge Abram’s husband was a federal prosecutor in the Robert Mueller Russia investigation when that team restricted travel and took possession of the passports for Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates.
  • Abrams, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, has plenty of social connections in the New York business world, including famous First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams and TV legal analyst Dan Abrams.
  • According to his attorney’s letter, requesting relief for travel to Jamaica in November of 2021, the court has granted every travel request Archer has submitted.
