Hungary ‘Will Not Allow’ U.S. To Pressure It Into War

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Hungary will not be pressured into joining war efforts supporting Ukraine.

“The United States has not given up its plan to squeeze everyone, including Hungary, into a war alliance, to go with the crowd,” Orbán stated at a press conference.

“But I have made it clear several times, and Hungarian diplomacy has also expressed this, that the will of the Hungarian people is clear, and our knowledge of history is quite solid, so we will not allow this,” Orbán continued.

“We will not allow them to squeeze us into a war. We will not send any weapons, and we will not be involved in a conflict that is not our war,” the Hungarian premier added.

Political advisor to Viktor Orbán, Balázs Orbán, maintained that the United States and Hungary are allies despite a report claiming the US was one of Hungary’s top adversaries.

Orbán said of the report, “Prime Minister Orban never said this thing. This is fake news.”

Reporting from The Washington Times:

Balazs Orban said Hungary and the United States are “old friends and old allies,” but he acknowledged that it is not easy right now to be an ally of the United States.

“In Hungary, we have a very successful, clear-cut, conservative right-wing Christian government, which is operating quite well,” he said. “Obviously, on a political level, we can work together in a much easier way with the Republicans.”
