Republican Targets Judge Undermining Trump

A Republican lawmaker is set to file impeachment articles against a California judge blocking President Trump’s efforts to use the National Guard to combat protests.

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) seeks to remove U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer.

“The goal is to get judges to do their jobs. If we’re not going to try to hold accountable the ones that aren’t, then they have no incentive to stop,” the representative told Fox News, adding, “I think it’s worth doing. I don’t know that we can pass it, I don’t know that the Senate would remove him from office, but I think failing to avail ourselves of the remedies that the framers intended was a mistake.”

Breyer ruled earlier this month that Trump’s actions were “illegal – both exceeding the scope of his statutory authority and violating the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. He must therefore return control of the California National Guard to the Governor of the State of California forthwith.”

Following Breyer’s decision, Fine announced his plans for pursuing impeachment articles, declaring on X at the time, I’ll be filing articles of impeachment against radical leftist judge Charles Breyer for attempting to unconstitutionally undermine the absolute authority of POTUS Donald Trump as Commander-in-Chief.”

A three-judge panel later found that it was “likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under § 12406(3), which authorizes federalization of the National Guard when ‘the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.’”

Several other Republicans have sought to impeach judges opposing President Trump’s authority.
