‘Group of Attorneys and Public Officials’ Demand Elon Musk’s $1 Million Giveaway be Investigated

The DOJ has been urged to investigate Elon Musk’s America PAC after Musk offered to give away $1 million each day until the election to registered voters in swing states who signed his petition supporting American freedoms.

“We are a group of attorneys and public officials, including those who have served in senior legal and law-enforcement roles under every Republican president from Richard Nixon to Donald Trump,” the letter read. “We write to you today to request that you review payments that are being made by the Elon Musk-founded America PAC to voters in Pennsylvania and other states that experts say raise serious questions under applicable law.”

Earlier this month, Musk declared, “Every day, from now through Nov 5, @America PAC will be giving away $1M to someone in swing states who signed our petition to support free speech & the right to bear arms!”

“We want to make sure that everyone in swing states hears about this and I suspect this will ensure they do.”

According to federal code, “Whoever…pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.”

Those who sign the petition are not required to support a particular candidate or political party.

“All you need to do is with the @America petition in support of the Constitutional rights to free speech & bear arms to have a daily chance of winning $1,000,000!” Musk said on X. “You can be from any or no political party and you don’t even have to vote.”

The petition states: “The First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. By signing below, I am pledging my support for the First and Second Amendments.”
