Greenland Deal Still a Priority, Envoy Reveals

U.S. Special Envoy to Greenland Jeff Landry, who also serves as Louisiana’s governor, told Breitbart’s Alex Marlow that President Trump still sees Greenland as a priority.

“He’s not forgotten about it,” Landry said.

“And here’s the great news, after visiting Greenland, here’s what I will tell you, the people of Greenland want to be with the United States, they want a closer relationship with the United States, they want more English teachers, they want more military presence in Greenland, they want to free themselves from Danish control, and so now it’s a matter of just making that happen, and I think it’s easy,” he explained.

The special envoy and governor noted that Greenland is home to a “great oil and gas reserve” as well as rare earth minerals.

Describing how the United States may acquire Greenland, Landry said, “I think we do it by actually sending more military personnel to Greenland to repopulating our bases, to creating a direct shipping route between the United States and Greenland, to getting direct airlines between the United States and Greenland, to open up more trade with the Greenlanders.”

Earlier this year, President Trump revealed to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that his administration is seeking “total access” to Greenland for security and defense.

“Everything comes over Greenland,” Trump told Bartiromo. “If the bad guys start shooting, it comes over Greenland. It’s pretty invaluable. It’s amazing. You know, Ronald Reagan had the idea a long time ago, but we didn’t have any technology at that point. The concept was great, but there was no technology. Now we have unbelievable technology.”
