Gen Z Considers Hamas ‘Freedom Fighters,’ Poll Shows

A poll from the British group More in Common found that Gen Z is as likely to consider Hamas “freedom fighters” as they are to call them “terrorists.”

Twenty-four percent of Generation Z called Hamas “freedom fighters,” with another 24% calling Hamas “terrorists.”

Eleven percent of Gen Z participants considered Hamas to be “militants,” with another 35% unsure how to label Hamas.

“Of those who say they have attended a rally or protest relating to the conflict, 35 per cent say ‘freedom fighters’ is the best word to describe Hamas, compared to only 20 per cent who would use the word ‘terrorist,'” the poll says.

The poll also found that 24% of Millennials “sympathise more with the Palestinian side.”

“Beyond age, support for Palestine is also associated with being a graduate: degree-holders are twice as likely to sympathise more with the Palestinian side than those without a degree,” the poll adds. “Sympathy for the Palestinian side is also higher in London than in any other region, higher in cities than in urban areas or towns, and higher among people with higher household incomes.”

American Faith previously reported that a survey from Issues and Insights and Techno Metrica Institute of Policy and Politics found that 20% of Democrats support Hamas.

In contrast, only 7% of Republicans responded that they support Hamas.
