Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced that she has terminated the security clearances of 37 former intelligence professionals.
“Being entrusted with a security clearance is a privilege, not a right. Those in the Intelligence Community who betray their oath to the Constitution and put their own interests ahead of the interests of the American people have broken the sacred trust they promised to uphold,” Gabbard said in a statement on social media. “In doing so, they undermine our national security, the safety and security of the American people and the foundational principles of our democratic republic.”
Describing the security clearance revocations, Gabbard said the professionals have “abused the public trust by politicizing and manipulating intelligence, leaking classified intelligence without authorization, and/or committing intentional egregious violations of tradecraft standards.”
“Our Intelligence Community must be committed to upholding the values and principles enshrined in the US Constitution and maintain a laser-like focus on our mission of ensuring the safety, security and freedom of the American people,” Gabbard asserted.
The ODNI memo states that President Trump “has directed that, effective immediately, the security clearances of the following 37 individuals are revoked.”
“Their access to classified systems, facilities, materials, and information is to be terminated forthwith. Any contracts or employment with the U.S. Government by these 37 individuals is hereby terminated,” the memo reads. “Any credentials held by these individuals must be surrendered to the appropriate security officers.” The memo goes on to list the names of the individuals.
Condemning the actions of those involved in the matter, the memo adds that a “betrayal of these standards compromises not only our mission, but also the safety and security of the American people.”
Gabbard previously revoked security clearances for several top Biden administration officials and the 51 former intelligence officials who falsely claimed the Hunter Biden laptop was “Russian disinformation.”
