Senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad openly celebrated that fruits of October 7—the terrorist attack that murdered over 1,200 Israelis—are now producing political gains in the West. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Hamad credited Hamas’s brutality for the recent announcements from Canada, the United Kingdom, and France that they will push to recognize a Palestinian state at the U.N. General Assembly in September.
“Why are all the countries recognizing a Palestinian state today? Before October 7, did any country dare recognize a Palestinian state?” Hamad asked. “The fruits of October 7 are what caused the entire world to open its eyes to the Palestinian issue—and they are moving toward it with force.”
U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the move, with Trump warning that recognition is “rewarding” Palestinian terrorists.
Hamad’s boast comes as Hamas flaunts its cruelty, releasing videos of Israeli hostages Rom Braslavski and Evyatar David, both emaciated after 664 days in captivity. “This is what real starvation looks like. The hostages are starved, tortured, and abused,” one X user wrote.
Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar blasted Canada, the U.K., and France for siding with the same terrorists gloating over mass murder. “If this [is] who applauds you, what does it say about you?” Sa’ar asked.
