BACKGROUND:
  • The Freedom Convoy has occupied the nation’s capital since Jan. 22, causing disruption to the city and it’s commerce.
  • They’ve also caused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to flee his home, according to Yahoo News, and report from an “undisclosed location.”
  • The Canadian government has responded to the truckers’ peaceful protest by freezing their funds, according to Fox News, and attempting to run the group out of the city by threatening mass-arrests, as The New York Post reported.
  • The residents of Ottawa, however, have been largely supportive, even giving gas to protesters and foiling police attempting to stop them by coming out en mass with empty or water-filled cans so the police couldn’t stop and seize containers actually containing fuel, according to The National Post
