Florida Anti-Lobbying Law Leads Public Officials to Resign

A new Florida law prohibits public officials from lobbying while in office and restricts them from lobbying for six years after holding office. Five elected have filed a lawsuit against the new law, saying it prohibits their free speech.

“It is for this very reason that the First Amendment of the United States Constitution expressly protects the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, along with the rights to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly,” the lawsuit says.
