The Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) permits taxpayer dollars to be used on “personal items” supporting a child’s “expression of their gender identity,” according to a report by Spencer Lindquist of the Daily Wire.
As detailed in a document from the Children’s Bureau, an organization operating under HHS, federal funds can be used to “support the provision of services, interventions, and supports to LGBTQIA2S+ children, youth, young adults, and their families/ caregivers.”
Funding from the Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood can be used “in a number of ways to support LGBTQIA2S+ youth and allow them to participate in positive, affirming, age-appropriate activities,” the document explains.
Some of these funds may be for the purchase of “personal items related to supporting a youth’s expression of their gender identity and/or sexual orientation.”
This means that the purchase of chest binders or other items for children who wish to transition their gender is permissible.
According to the Children’s Bureau, the Chafee Foster Care Program helps youths with “education, employment, financial management, housing, emotional support and assured connections to caring adults.”
The report added that an LGBT organization encourages the purchase of gender-transition materials with taxpayer dollars.
Using female-to-male devices “allow[s] trans boys and masculine people the appearance and feeling of having male genitals,” affirming a youth’s desired gender and helping them “feel good about themselves and take pride in their identity,” according to a document from the National SOGIE Center.
Lindquist emphasized on X that the “HHS’ push to transition kids is one more way the federal govt has been weaponized by leftists.”
Biden’s HHS recently finalized a rule that strengthens protections for LGBTQ youth in foster care.
Under the new rule, the “provider must commit to establishing an environment that supports the child’s LGBTQI+ status or identity;” “be trained with the appropriate knowledge and skills to provide for the needs of the child related to the child’s self-identified sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression;” and “facilitate the child’s access to age- or developmentally appropriate resources, services, and activities that support their health and well-being.”
“Every child deserves a safe and loving home,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “When any child comes into government care, they should have supports and services that meet their specific needs. By addressing the needs of LGBTQI+ children, this rule brings us one step closer to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to thrive.”
