Elon Musk is reportedly considering giving Nigel Farage’s Reform UK Party up to $100 million, according to The Telegraph.
“Reform will probably get 100 seats at the next election even without extra money,” an election strategist said. “And if they get a substantial amount of money they will be able to run a much more targeted campaign based on the sort of data they don’t currently have.”
The Telegraph’s associate editor, Gordon Rayner, explained that the possible contribution could allow Reform UK to “build a demographic map” of the United Kingdom. The party could then assess what issues matter to people from various demographics. Such information would lead to Reform UK directly advertising to a target audience.
An election strategist noted that “one of the best ways you can influence people to vote for you is to get their friends to talk to them about politics and make the arguments on your behalf.”
They explained that good data can allow the party to “use a local candidate’s Facebook page to set out the key points on any particular policy. That is likely to be read by their supporters, who will take those points on board and use them to get their friends on board.”
Data is also beneficial for “advertising, canvassing and getting your supporters out on polling day,” the election strategist added.
Farage, looking to become the next prime minister in 2029, dismissed reports that Musk may donate to Reform UK.
“It hasn’t been discussed with me,” he told GB News. “What I do know is that Elon Musk is very supportive of me, what I’m trying to do, and he thinks that if Reform do well in the UK, we can bring about the same kind of change that he intends to do with Donald Trump in America.”
Farage emphasized to the BBC that reports surrounding the rumored donation are “pure speculation.”
