Double Standard: Human Rights Groups Ignore Iran’s Hospital Strike

Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and other prominent human rights groups slammed Israel’s actions but stayed silent on Iran’s recent strike on Soroka Medical Center. This glaring double standard exposes how politicized the watchdog industry has become.

Amnesty admitted it was “unable to comment at present as our research team is still looking into this incident.” The same organization routinely condemned Israel’s operations against Hamas terrorists using hospitals and civilian infrastructure as command bases and weapons caches. The organization calling one raid “a devastating attack on human rights.” Meanwhile, PAX for Peace dubbed Israel’s actions in Iran “illegal military action” and joined calls for a “complete arms embargo against Israel.”

Only Churches for Middle East Peace condemned Iran, stating hospitals “must be protected as safe places where healing can occur without fear of bombardment and war.” Their qualified response highlights the reluctance of the others to call out Iran directly.

NGO Monitor criticized the imbalance, saying these groups “have weaponized the moral principles of human rights to demonize the Jewish state.” Gerald Steinberg added, “Palestinians are automatically victims… Hamas and their allies—particularly the Tehran regime—never commit war crimes.”

While Iran struck a civilian hospital and injured at least 80 people, watchdogs rushed to accuse Israel of genocide. Human Rights Watch even charged Israeli authorities with having “starved, killed, and maimed thousands of Palestinian children.” Yet no comparable denunciation followed the Iranian strike.

Conservative critics argue this hypocrisy undermines the credibility of these groups. As one expert noted of this double standard, they condemn Israel for strikes but remain silent on Iran’s blatant aggression, revealing a one-sided moral compass.
