DOJ Charges Men for Alleged Brothel Network

The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged three men for allegedly operating brothels serving elected officials, military officers, doctors, and others.

“Three individuals have been arrested in connection with operating sophisticated high-end brothels in greater Boston and eastern Virginia,” reads a statement from the US Attorney’s Office of the District of Massachusetts. “Commercial sex buyers allegedly included elected officials, high tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers, government contractors that possess security clearances, professors, attorneys, scientists and accountants, among others.”

The three individuals charged with “conspiracy to coerce and entice to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity” were:

  • Han Lee, a/k/a “Hana,” 41, of Cambridge, Massachusettes
  • James Lee, 68, of Torrance, California
  • Junmyung Lee, 30, of Dedham, Massachusettes

According to a DHS affidavit, “The co-conspirators were advertising women for commercial sex via at least two different websites on the internet, under the guise of professional nude photo shoots and established brothels in order to facilitate the engagement of commercial sex.”

Acting US Attorney for Massachusetts, Joshua Levy, said during a press conference, “Pick a profession. They’re probably represented in this case.”

Levy added, “They are doctors, they are lawyers, they are accountants, they are elected officials, they are executives of high tech companies and pharmaceutical companies, they are military officers, government contractors, professors, scientists. They are the men who fuel this commercial sex ring.”
