Resurfaced video footage from 2022 shows Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz bragging about his administration holding “more refugees per capita than any other state.”
“That’s not just morally a good thing, it’s our economic and cultural future,” he said at the time.
In August 2024, the House Oversight Committee announced that it launched an investigation into Walz’s connections with China.
In a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray, Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wrote that the committee “seeks information about the Chinese entities and officials Governor Walz has engaged and partnered with, as well as any warnings or advice the FBI may have given to Governor Walz about U.S. political figures being targeted by or recruited for CCP influence operations.”
Walz has “longstanding connections to CCP-connected entities and officials that make him susceptible to the Party’s strategy of elite capture,” the letter says, “which seeks to co-opt influential figures in elite political, cultural, and academic circles to influence the United States to the benefit of the communist regime and the detriment of Americans.”
Comer expressed concern that the CCP may have influenced Walz’s “decision-making as governor.”
“Despite bipartisan efforts to identify and defeat CCP unrestricted warfare against America, Governor Walz continues problematic engagement with concerning entities and individuals,” the letter adds, explaining that Walz met with Chinese leaders.
