Connecticut Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy wants Americans to stop complaining about the millions of illegal aliens who flooded into the country under the Biden administration. His reasoning? He claims communities are actually safer with them here.
In a recent interview with The CT Mirror, Murphy dismissed the Trump administration’s efforts to address mass illegal immigration as solving a “fake problem” that doesn’t actually exist.
“The problem, according to the Trump administration, is a country that has been invaded, a country that is at risk physically because of the presence of people from other countries,” Murphy said. “That is a fake problem. That is not a real problem.”
The senator cited unnamed sources claiming that illegal aliens commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans, a claim that former Assistant Attorney General Theo Wold flatly rejected. Wold told Fox News, “There are no reliable statistics showing that illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes, and Democrats are the reason. They have blocked efforts to record and report illegal immigrant crime for decades so they can spout pseudo-statistics like these, made up out of whole cloth.”
Murphy’s comments come after four years of the Biden administration facilitating what critics call a mass illegal alien invasion. The damage was felt in communities across the nation, particularly in Democrat-controlled cities and states.
New York City alone saw more than 220,000 asylum seekers and immigrant families arrive over three years, according to a September 2025 report by Documented. Many brought school-aged children, flooding an already strained education system. More than 13,000 new students who couldn’t speak English entered NYC public schools between the 2022 and 2023 academic years.
Yet Murphy’s message to those voters is that the problem was never real. That Americans should actually be grateful Democrats dumped millions of Third World foreigners into their communities.
“So if you want to live in a safe community, you are actually better off living in a community with people that just got to the United States of America,” Murphy said. “And so we’re not seeking to solve ‘a problem’ of migrant crime.”
Even if Murphy’s disputed crime statistics were accurate, critics argue it wouldn’t justify allowing millions of illegal aliens to invade the country and remain indefinitely. The issue isn’t simply crime rates. It’s sovereignty, rule of law, and whether American citizens have any say in who enters their nation.
Murphy’s comments suggest Democrats learned nothing from their devastating losses in the 2024 presidential election. Rather than acknowledge voter concerns about uncontrolled borders, they’re doubling down on the message that the real problem is Americans failing to appreciate the invasion.
