U.S. Border Sees 13 Straight Months of Zero Releases

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced 13 consecutive months of zero releases. The decline in illegal immigrant crossings and apprehensions is at levels not seen for more than thirty years, the agencies said.

“Thirteen straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “The days of catch and release are over. We are enforcing the nation’s laws and quickly sending illegal aliens back to their home countries, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of our nation.”

According to data cited by the agencies, apprehensions along the southwest border are 94% lower than under former President Joe Biden. The number of daily apprehensions is also 94% lower than under the Biden administration.

“This milestone, coupled with historically low illegal crossings, demonstrates our unwavering commitment to securing our nation. Our robust enforcement policies are working, and we are delivering unprecedented results in border security, drug interdiction, and trade enforcement,” CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott said in a statement. “These sustained successes are a testament to our strategic approach and the vital support we receive, thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Mullin.”

Last month, DHS celebrated a full year of zero migrant releases into the United States. “What a difference, America! The U.S. Border Patrol released zero illegal aliens into our country again this month, unlike April 2024 when more than 68,000 were released under President Biden,” Scott said at the time. “Every minute of every day President Trump’s border security policies are making every American safer.”
