COVID Testing Company Faked Results Without License

The Center for COVID Control was found faking test results and opperating without a license for their testing sites, according to a new lawsuit.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The nationwide COVID testing company advertised to provide free and rapid-result tests, while they were secretly gathering patient information and then distributing invalid results, the complaint stated.
  • The husband and wife founders Akbar Syed and Aleya Siyaj, are being accused of refusing to hire enough workers who were able to process all of the tests and did so without acquiring any legal licenses, according to the companies former employees.
  • To keep up with the high demand, the company was allegedly storing the tests in large trash bags, rather than properly storing them and backdated testing dates so the samples could still be processed.
  • “As trash bags of tests piled up and my team was instructed to lie to patients on a daily basis, I had had enough,” one former employee said. “I first requested a demotion from my shift lead position, and, shortly after that, I quit.”
WHAT THE LAWSUIT SAID OF THE CENTER FOR COVID CONTROL:

“…frequently failed to report any test results at all, causing potentially COVID-19 free individuals to isolate and miss work, travel, and time with loved ones unnecessarily.”

BACKGROUND:
  • Earlier this month, the FBI searched Center for COVID Control headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago, but refused to comment on the investigation, USA Today reported.
  • According to a press release from the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, the testing center threatend the health and safety of the communities and individuals involved.
