Classified Docs from Biden’s VP Days Found in Private Office Months After Mar-a-Lago Controversy

The White House announced that a batch of documents from Joe Biden’s time as Vice President was discovered at the Penn Biden Center by the president’s personal attorneys on Nov 2.

This batch included “a small number of documents with classified markings,” according to Fox News.

The documents discovered at the Penn Biden Center were found in a locked closet while the attorneys were preparing to vacate the office space at the center, which the president used from mid-2017 until he began the 2020 campaign.

The National Archives were informed of the discovery and took possession of the documents.

According to special counsel to the White House, Richard Saubel, the documents were not previously requested or inquired about by the Archives.

Saubel also claims Biden’s personal attorneys have been cooperating with the Archives and the Department of Justice to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are accounted for.

Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch to review the situation, according to CBS News, who first reported on the discovery of the documents on Monday.

In September 2022, Biden said the discovery of top-secret documents at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate raised concerns that sensitive data had been compromised and called it “irresponsible.”

At the time, Biden told CBS’ “60 Minutes” that when he heard about classified documents taken from the White House, he wondered how “anyone could be that irresponsible.”

“And I thought, what data was in there that may compromise sources and methods?” he added.
