“The Democratic Party cannot continue to cede ground to the socialist agenda. We’ve seen how dangerous that is,” Lopez said. He cited the Washington, D.C. attack as a clear example of how radical left-wing ideology has fueled violence against America’s allies and is endangering lives at home.
Lopez emphasized that Democrats must take responsibility and stop ignoring the dangers of extremism within their own ranks. “We need to start calling out what’s wrong in our party, what’s wrong in our politics, and what’s wrong in our nation,” he said. Lopez stressed that protecting the country from threats—whether foreign or domestic—must be a top priority for all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.
The veteran Chicago alderman’s comments highlight a growing divide within the Democratic Party, as some members push back against the far-left agenda gaining influence in major cities. Lopez argued that ignoring these radical elements undermines national security and weakens public trust.
