Bluesky’s daily active user count dropped nearly 40% following President Trump’s election win, marking a dramatic fall for the once-hyped social platform. At the same time, Truth Social posted modest but noteworthy growth, signaling a shift among users toward more ideologically aligned platforms.
According to a report from Similarweb, Bluesky’s global mobile daily active users plunged by 39.8% as of October 2025. This sharp decline follows a period of early growth and enthusiasm, especially among progressive and anti-establishment circles. However, the platform’s momentum faltered throughout the year, leaving a large number of registered users but significantly lower day-to-day engagement.
Bluesky had over 40 million user registrations as of November 2025, but most are no longer actively engaging. Analysts point to weak content engagement and a lack of viral community energy. Unlike platforms with a clear cultural identity, Bluesky has struggled to retain interest, especially after key political events that typically boost online activity.
Truth Social, in contrast, gained ground. The same Similarweb report shows that Truth Social’s mobile daily average users increased by 32% over the past year. Though the platform still remains smaller in overall user base, its growth has proven consistent, with spikes aligning closely to posts by President Trump. The platform maintains an active and loyal user community, largely composed of conservatives seeking an alternative to mainstream social media.
The contrast highlights a broader trend in digital behavior. Platforms aligned with ideological communities—especially those promoting freedom of speech and traditional values—are more likely to retain users in a competitive social media landscape.
The report also showed that other major platforms like X (formerly Twitter) have seen user declines, while TikTok and Instagram continue to lead in broader engagement metrics. However, the political and faith-based audience gravitating toward Truth Social demonstrates a growing preference for alternative platforms where their values are respected and amplified.
