Biden’s State of the Union 2024 to Air Thursday

President Biden is set to deliver his final State of the Union address for his first term on Thursday evening.

This year’s speech is the third State of the Union that Biden will deliver during his time in office, just ahead of the upcoming elections this November.

Biden’s speech is set to begin at 9 p.m. eastern time and Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) will deliver the Republican response after the president ends his remarks, likely around 10 p.m. eastern.

The annual speech comes just two days after Super Tuesday, where Former President Donald Trump and President Biden emerged as clear frontrunners in their respective party races, signaling a step closer to finalizing the primary season ahead of their anticipated rematch.

Following Trump’s successes on Tuesday night, he secured over half of the total delegates necessary to clinch the 1,215 delegates required for the party’s nomination.

President Joe Biden has amassed 812 delegates thus far. The closest contender, Jason Palmer, an unfamiliar candidate who edged out Biden by 11 votes in American Samoa with a tally of 51 to 40, holds merely 3 delegates.

During last year’s State of the Union address, Biden gave false impressions when he overestimated the number of American jobs created.

“Two years ago, our economy was reeling,” Biden said in February 2023, failing to mention that American jobs were lost due to Democrat pandemic policies, which shut down the economy.

“As I stand here tonight, we have created a record 12 million new jobs, more jobs created in two years than any president has ever created in four years,” Biden said.

He argued that his administration “created 800,000 good-paying manufacturing jobs, the fastest growth in 40 years.”

Rather than creating 800,000 jobs, many American jobs were merely recovered in a post-pandemic economy.

Trump released a video following the 2023 speech, expressing his sentiments about the state of America under the Biden admin.

“Here’s the real state of the union. Over the past two years, under Biden, millions and millions of illegal aliens from 160 different countries have stormed across our southern border,” said Trump, describing the U.S. Southern Border crisis.

Trump condemned Democrats’ handling of inflation, saying, “Biden and the radical democrats have wasted trillions of dollars and caused the worst inflation in half a century. Real wages are down 21 months in a row. Gas prices have soared and are now going up much higher than even before.”
