Biden to Announce 2024 Bid in February

Joe Biden is reportedly planning to announce his intentions to run for a second term in the White House during the upcoming State of the Union address, set to take place in February, The Hill reports.

According to sources close to the Biden campaign, the president spent the holidays in St. Croix discussing his plans with his family, and has been receiving briefings from advisers on what a potential campaign would look like.

In recent months, Biden’s senior advisers have also been meeting with key allies and building an extensive digital presence, with the Democratic National Committee reportedly funding research to lay the groundwork for a campaign launch.

While some Democrats have questioned whether Biden will run again due to his age—he turned 80 in November—those close to the president maintain that he has time on his side, particularly in the wake of GOP disharmony surrounding the Speaker vote this week.

A more formal announcement is expected to come in April, according to a source close to Biden’s 2020 campaign.
