Biden Still Running for President in 2024: The Hill

According to a source familiar with President Biden’s 2024 campaign plans, “nothing has changed,” despite the recent controversy surrounding classified documents, according to a report from The Hill.

Biden is still on track to announce his intention to seek re-election after his State of the Union address on Feb 7, with a formal declaration planned for later in the spring.

“It’s still very much in the works and nothing has changed,” said one source familiar with Biden’s plans.

Despite the appointment of a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland in response to the discovery of the classified documents found in Biden’s personal residence and workplace, “multiple sources” say that Biden’s re-election plans remain unchanged, per The Hill.

However, Democrats are concerned that the ongoing story surrounding the classified materials could harm Biden’s campaign.

“It’s the kind of thing that can consume a lot of oxygen,” said one Democratic strategist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “You think it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, and maybe it isn’t, but it ends up overtaking much of the campaign.”
