President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump, and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) stood together during a 9/11 ceremony.
A video shows former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg informing Harris of Trump’s arrival. Crowds can then be heard cheering for Trump.
Moments of silence were held at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m. to mark when the Twin Towers were struck; 9:37 a.m. to mark the moment when the Pentagon was struck; 9:59 a.m. to mark when the South Tower fell; 10:03 a.m. to mark when the hijacked Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania; and 10:28 a.m. to mark when the North Tower fell.
Another video shows the American flag unfurled at the Pentagon.
Biden released a statement in remembrance of 9/11.
“Never forget each of the 2,977 precious lives stolen from us when terrorists attacked our nation. Never forget their families who still bear the grief from that searing September morning. Never forget the heroic citizens and survivors who rushed to help their fellow Americans. And never forget that when faced with evil—and an enemy that sought to tear us apart—we endured,” the statement read.
“[W]e will continue to remember: we are the United States of America. We endure. We overcome. And there is nothing beyond our capacity when we do it together. May God bless our fallen and their families,” the statement added. “May God protect our troops and first responders. And may God bless the United States of America.”
