Biden Admin Silent as Its Own ‘Climate Envoy’ Links Ukraine War to Surge in Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The Biden administration has yet to respond to recent remarks by its own Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC), John Kerry, regarding the impact of the ongoing Ukraine war on so-called “climate change,” an issue championed by the regime.

The White House and National Security Council representatives have not commented on Kerry’s assertions.

In a recent interview with MSNBC on July 10, Kerry reiterated his concerns about the Ukraine conflict and its alleged repercussions on the environment.

The conflict, heightened by Russia’s “special operation” against Ukraine that commenced last year, has, according to Kerry, contributed to a substantial increase in greenhouse gas emissions.

“An enormous release of greenhouse gas, methane, all of the family of greenhouse gases” results from the war, said Kerry.

He attributed this surge to the collateral damage caused by bombings, particularly to septic tanks and power centers.

Kerry emphasized that while he believes the Ukraine war is an essential battle, it carries “ancillary impacts as a result.”

In previous statements, Kerry had also highlighted the war’s effect on the global focus on climate change.

In an April 2022 interview with The Washington Post, he stressed that the Ukraine crisis had distracted global efforts to reduce emissions.

“What’s happened in Ukraine has not helped to concentrate people on reducing [emissions],” said Kerry.

Instead, it has shifted the global focus on finding alternatives to Russian gas and maintaining production levels amidst low supply.

He regretted the interruption of the momentum generated post the Glasgow climate meet due to the war.

The White House’s silence on Kerry’s remarks and Biden’s relentless financial and military support to Ukraine apparently demonstrates the administration’s commitment to Ukraine is stronger than its commitment to fight “climate change.”
