Biden Admin Investing $9.6 Billion to ‘Electrify’ U.S. Postal Service Fleet

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced a plan to invest $9.6 billion over the next five years to electrify its delivery fleet, according to the White House.

This includes a commitment to acquire 100% electric delivery vehicles starting in 2026, as well as the installation of charging infrastructure at USPS facilities and the electrification of 66,000 delivery vehicles.

The investment is part of Joe Biden’s plan to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the United States, with a goal for 50% of new vehicles sold in 2030 to be electric.

Since President Biden took office, EV sales in the US have tripled, and the USPS’s plan will help the organization to meet the requirement for federal agencies to electrify their fleets.

The USPS investment will also contribute to the Biden administration’s goal of 100% acquisition of zero-emission light-duty vehicles by 2027 and medium and heavy-duty vehicles by 2035.
