Belarus to Include Castration of Pedophiles in Criminal Code

Belarus will update its national criminal code to include the chemical castration of convicted pedophiles.

Eastern European media organizations have reported that the Belarusian Health Ministry has developed “a clinical protocol containing an algorithm for the treatment of pedophilia, including the use of chemical castration.”

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko believes convicted pedophiles should also be tracked with electronic monitoring bracelets.

Russia is believed to be following suit on the matter.

The moves toward chemical castration come as former Soviet Union nations are seeing a rise in social conservatism.

The laws across the East and several American states fall short when compared to the lengths that Uganda is taking to combat pedophilia.

The African country of Uganda passed legislation calling for the death penalty for those who have had homosexual sex with a minor.

Reporting from National File:

The state of Alabama made headlines in 2019 after Governor Kay Ivey signed legislation that mandated the chemical castration of pedophiles guilty of a sex crime against a child under the age of 13, prior to their release from prison. The treatments, which are not permanent, are mandated until a court of law determines that they’re no longer needed.

In addition to Alabama, the states of Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Wisconsin, Montana, Oregon, and California have laws on the books allowing for the chemical castration of pedophiles though, as previously mentioned, enforcement varies.
