Another Food Giant Pledges to Remove Dyes

Nestlé announced that it will take steps to align its products with the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, pledging to remove all Food, Drug & Cosmetic (FD&C) colors.

The eliminations are set to occur by mid-2026. Nestlé explained that it has already begun removing synthetic colors over the last decade and is working on solutions for products still using the ingredients.

“Consumers enjoy a wide variety of foods and beverages as part of their daily diet. They want choice and value shaped by a dynamic – and highly personal – combination of nutrition, quality, price and convenience,” CEO of Nestlé USA Marty Thompson said in a statement. “Whether it’s an easy and nutritious family meal, an occasional snack, or a satisfying cup of coffee, we are always looking for different ways to offer great tasting, compelling choices for our consumers. As their diverse dietary preferences and nutritional needs evolve, we evolve with them.”

“Serving and delighting people is at the heart of everything we do and every decision that we make,” Thompson added. “We have been doing so for over 100 years, and that longevity is built on an unwavering commitment to understanding our consumers, adapting to their evolving expectations, and meeting their immediate needs, but with a future-focused approach. Nestlé USA remains committed to providing consumers with affordable, high-quality food and beverages.”

Numerous companies have pledged to revamp their products in light of MAHA efforts, including Tyson Foods, PepsiCo, General Mills, Kraft Heinz, and others.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. commented on Nestlé’s announcement, saying, “Glad to see more companies like [Nestlé] and [Conagra Brands] taking action to remove artificial dyes from their foods. I urge other companies to step up and help us Make America Healthy Again.”
