In a recent appearance on the podcast “Rose Unplugged,” American Faith’s Founder and President, Pastor Phil Hotsenpiller, delved into the themes of his new book, Midnight in America, and engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on Biblical prophecy.
The conversation delved deep into current issues, including the immigration crisis, escalating crime, and rampant drug activity in American cities.
However, amid these challenges, Hotsenpiller assured listeners that Americans “always have hope.”
Echoing this sentiment, he asserted, “We have to have hope in order to survive.”
Highlighting what he perceives as an “unwinding of the fabric of America,” Hotsenpiller juxtaposed the vast sums sent overseas with the meager aid given domestically:
“It’s $228 million a day that we’ve been giving [Ukraine],” he remarked. “If you’re living on Maui and your house burns down, you get a check for $1,200 bucks. So you can see there’s an unwinding of the fabric of America.”
Hotsenpiller believes that, despite challenges, the United States has a preordained role in Biblical prophecy.
To shed light on this, he referred to 1 Thessalonians 5, emphasizing, “The key to this chapter is the personal pronouns.”
Drawing parallels with contemporary events, he mentioned, “When they say ‘peace and safety,'” likening it to the government’s response to COVID-19.
The scripture further warns that “sudden calamity will fall upon ‘them,'” which, according to Hotsenpiller, signifies those advocating for “peace and safety.”
Expanding on this, he said, “All of those personal pronouns unlock where we are and that God has a protective hand on His people.”
He drew from history and scripture, saying, “Whether it was the ark or Egypt as they left at the heels of Pharoah, God has always protected His people in a very, very unique way.”
As they steered their conversation toward prophecy, Hotsenpiller had a hopeful perspective to share: “We are living in some amazing prophetic times.”
And in a comforting reminder, he noted, “Things aren’t falling apart, they’re falling into place. If you have that perspective on it, you can say there’s a sovereign God.”
Regarding the rapid advancements in technology, especially AI (artificial intelligence), Hotsenpiller was optimistic yet cautious.
“If we go old-school on this thing,” he said, referring to older modes of technology and social media, “we are going to miss out on the opportunities God is going to have. It doesn’t mean we’re not cautious.”
“How can we use it for the kingdom of God?” he asked.
He left listeners with an uplifting note, emphasizing the importance of embracing each day: “It’s important to really enjoy every day of your life. And you can’t enjoy your life if you’re worried and living in fear.”
He then quoted 2 Timothy 1:7, saying, “Remember, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of ‘love, power, and a sound mind.'”
