A.D.L. Defines ‘Racism’ as Something Only ‘White People’ Can Commit

“The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.”

QUICK FACTS:
  • The ‘Anti-Defamation League’ has defined “racism” as something that can only perpetrated against “people of color,” according to the league’s website, and therefore only committed by “white people.”
  • The website defines racism this way: “The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.”
  • Conservative author and political commentator Mark Dice wrote in a social media post that the ADL is “trying to change the definition of racism.”
  • The YouTuber goes on to argue that the ADL is “falsely representing [racism] as something only White people do!”

WHAT ELSE DICE SAID:

“Truly Orwellian, and all the more reason why the term Anti-Whiteism needs to be part of the lexicon. When people hear ‘racism’ they’ve been conditioned to (wrongly) think that it’s aimed only at blacks *from* whites. And now the ADL is trying to literally change the definition! Also, the term CRT (Critical Race Theory) only softens what’s going on. It’s Anti-Whiteism. Start using the right term!”

BACKGROUND:
  • The ADL website also says there are “factors that advantage white people” which “cause widespread harm and disadvantages in access and opportunity” for “people of color.”
  • This “systemic racism” is “grounded in the history of [America’s] laws and institutions which were created on a foundation of white supremacy,” “exists in the institutions and policies that advantage white people and disadvantage people of color,” and “takes places in interpersonal communication and behavior (e.g., slurs, bullying, offensive language) that maintains and supports systemic inequities and systemic racism,” the site claims.
