Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) launched a new project to revamp the nation’s economy. The project comes amid the rise of socialism within the United States and seeks to jumpstart the American Dream once again.
In a video announcing the project, called “Rescuing America,” Scott said he aims to “educate the American public on how our economy has drastically changed, how the American dream is out of reach for so many, and how we can fix it.”
“The question is not whether people are angry — they are,” he says in the video. “The question is who provides the answers.”
“We can offer something socialism never, ever can. The idea of turning to socialism will not fix anything,” Scott declares. “Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried. Every single time.”
The senator went on to declare that Americans must “hold Washington accountable” and fix its “broken system.”
In a message accompanying his video, Scott wrote, “Some say socialism is the answer, but the truth is it’ll only make matters worse. We can’t give up on the American Dream.”
“The generation coming of age today has inherited Washington’s failures and are paying for them every day. They’re walking into a world where the starter home their parents bought doesn’t exist for them anymore. They’re abandoning the idea of having children because they simply cannot afford it,” Scott said in a statement released by his office. “More young Americans following socialists like Zohran Mamdani because the status quo has failed and they’re desperate for change. We must be clear that socialism isn’t the answer. It will kill the American Dream.”
Scott’s endeavor comes as a recent poll from CBS/YouGov revealed that more than a third of Gen Z Americans have a favorable view of socialism. When asked what their “view of socialism” was, 9% of respondents said “very positive” and 26% said “somewhat positive.”
Twenty-eight percent of Gen Z respondents said they held a “very negative” view of socialism, and 14% were “somewhat negative.”
