Trump Comments on Possible Ted Cruz Presidential Run

President Trump commented on rumors if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) would run for president in the 2028 election.

The Daily Caller asked Trump from the Oval Office, “Ted Cruz keeps teasing a 2028 presidential run. You’ve run against him for president. Do you think he could be president? What’s your reaction to that?”

Trump responded, “I would say that he’s very talented. He’s a very good friend of mine. I think he might do that. He’s a talented guy.”

When asked if the Republican Party has chosen Vice President JD Vance as their 2028 pick, Cruz told MS NOW, “Oh, no.”

“There’s going to be a full discussion about who we are and what we believe,” Cruz added. He further he will be considered as part of the discussion. “There’ll be time to figure that out,” he said. “I’ll certainly be part of the discussion.”

Earlier this year, President Trump said that a Vance-Rubio ticket is the “dream team” for 2028.  “By the way, I do believe that’s a dream team. But these are minor details. That does not mean you have my endorsement under any circumstance. But you know … I think it sounds like presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate,” he said.

In October, President Trump told reporters that the Republican Party has “great” candidates for 2028. “I don’t have to get into that, but we have one of them standing right here,” Trump said, referring to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “We have JD, obviously. The Vice President is great. Marco is great, I think. I’m not sure if anybody would run against those.”

“I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable,” he asserted.
