President Trump revealed his ideal 2028 presidential election ticket, calling Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio his “dream team.”
“Who likes J.D. Vance? Who likes Marco Rubio? All right. Sounds like a good ticket,” Trump said. “J.D. is a perfect — That was a perfect ticket.”
“By the way, I do believe that’s a dream team. But these are minor details. That does not mean you have my endorsement under any circumstance. But you know … I think it sounds like presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate,” he added.
In October, President Trump told reporters that the Republican Party has “great” candidates for 2028. “I don’t have to get into that, but we have one of them standing right here,” Trump said, referring to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “We have JD, obviously. The Vice President is great. Marco is great, I think. I’m not sure if anybody would run against those.”
“I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable,” he asserted.
Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk has also declared that the organization will work to get Vice President JD Vance elected in 2028. “We are locked in and mission-focused for both 2026 and 2028,” she said during the AmericaFest conference, describing that the organization aims to invest “in states and not just in races.”
“So what I mean by that is we are building the red wall — Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire. That’s going to be very important to us.” Kirk added, “We are going to get my husband’s friend JD Vance elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible.”
A February poll also revealed that Vance is the leading contender for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, with 61% support.
