Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused the Republican Party of being “politically brain-dead” on issues surrounding the economy and American families.
Writing an op-ed for The New York Times, Clinton complained that Republicans “ignore the financial burdens crushing parents who are trying to provide a safe, healthy, middle-class life for their kids. Their answer is too often nostalgia and misogyny: If we could turn back the clock to a time when women didn’t work (and knew their place), the economy would thrive and families would flourish. This is substantively and politically brain-dead.”
“The irony is hard to miss: Republicans who paid lip service to helping moms after the Supreme Court ended Roe v. Wade continue to oppose policies that would make parenthood more affordable and sustainable,” she condemned.
Clinton went on to describe what she called a “kids agenda,” which includes expanding child tax credits, paid family leave, universal child care, protecting children’s health programs, and establishing guidance assisting parents with an ever-increasing digital world.
“Democrats should be ready,” she declared. “We know what works. We know how to help families. If we’re serious about making this election about affordability, then kids should be front and center.”
Earlier this year, Clinton accused Trump supporters of having “moral rot.”
Discussing what she perceives to be “moral rot,” Clinton writes, “Whatever you think about immigration policy, how can a person of conscience justify the lack of compassion and empathy for the victims in Minnesota, and for the families torn apart or hiding in fear, for the children separated from their parents or afraid to go to school?”
“MAGA rejects the teachings of Jesus to ‘love thy neighbor’ and care for ‘the last, the least, and the lost.’ It recognizes only a zero-sum war of all against all,” Clinton added, going on to again condemn “Christian nationalism.”
