NFL Rage Horror: Florida Mom Dies Shielding Children

A Florida family tragedy tied to NFL rage left a mother dead and two children wounded just days before Christmas, according to authorities. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting unfolded after a domestic dispute escalated late at night following a televised football game.

Jason Kenney, 47, shot and killed his wife, Crystal Roure, 38, inside their Highland City home on Dec. 22, 2025, before later taking his own life. Investigators said Kenney had been drinking while watching Monday Night Football in a shed behind the home and came inside around 11 p.m. to watch the end of the game. An argument began after Roure said she did not want to watch football.

As the confrontation intensified, Roure told her 12-year-old son to run to a neighbor’s house and call 911. While fleeing, the boy heard a single gunshot. Deputies later found Roure dead in the living room with a gunshot wound to her head. The couple’s 13-year-old daughter was found in her bedroom suffering from two gunshot wounds but survived. A 1-year-old child was located unharmed in her crib.

Sheriff Grady Judd said the teen recalled pleading for her life. “She said, ‘I begged him, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me. And he shot me anyway,’” Judd said.

Authorities also found a letter Roure had written to Kenney, stating, “You’re drinking, you’re using cocaine again. This is not the way a family should be. You need God.”

After the shooting, Kenney fled and later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. “He absolutely destroyed a family,” Judd said, describing Christmas presents still sitting under the tree.
