A Connecticut judge disbarred Hunter Biden for violating the state’s attorney general policies. Former President Joe Biden’s son was admitted to the Connecticut bar in 1997.
A report from the Associated Press explains that Biden consented to being disbarred and acknowledged his misconduct. He did not admit to criminal wrongdoing. The action follows complaints surrounding Biden’s conviction on federal gun and tax charges.
According to the AP, the Connecticut judge found Biden engaged in conduct “involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.”
In April, Biden was disbarred from practicing law in Washington, D.C. Biden was admitted to the D.C. Bar in 2007, but his license was suspended after a federal court convicted him of lying about drug use on a firearm purchase form. He later pleaded guilty to three felonies and six misdemeanors related to tax evasion.
The former president pardoned his son in December 2024. The pardon applied to potential offenses Hunter Biden may have committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.
“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” Biden said in a statement for the pardon. “Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”
