Trump Targets Antifa in New Push Against Domestic Terrorism

President Donald Trump convened a roundtable discussion at the White House on Wednesday, October 8, to address the growing violence associated with the far-left Antifa movement. The meeting brought together senior administration officials, law enforcement leaders, and victims of political violence to discuss strategies for combating what the president has repeatedly described as a coordinated campaign of domestic extremism.

The event followed Trump’s September presidential proclamation officially designating Antifa as a terrorist organization. In the proclamation, the president described the group as a “militarist, anarchist enterprise” that “explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law.”

“It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals,” the president stated. “This organized effort designed to achieve policy objectives by coercion and intimidation is domestic terrorism.”

The roundtable highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Antifa’s operations across the country. Officials discussed intelligence coordination, federal prosecutions, and partnerships with state and local agencies aimed at identifying extremist networks that have targeted police departments, conservative groups, and businesses during riots and demonstrations.

President Trump has long warned that Antifa poses a threat to public safety and national stability, accusing the movement of exploiting protests to incite chaos and undermine law enforcement. Supporters of the designation argue that the group’s structure, funding, and tactics mirror those of international terrorist organizations.

During the meeting, Trump reiterated his commitment to restoring law and order, praising local officers who have faced violence from Antifa-affiliated agitators. “No one should have to live in fear of political violence,” the president said. “We will continue to defend American communities from radicals who want to destroy them.”
