The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is set to vote on renaming a roadway to “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.” The 4-mile strip runs from the Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-a-Lago.
“That portion of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and S. Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach County is designated as President Donald J. Trump Boulevard,” the legislation says.
Governor Ron DeSantis (R) approved the law earlier this year but must now receive local approval.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told The Hill that renaming the road “commemorates [Trump’s] iconic legacy and the historically significant moments that have made this President the greatest of all time.” She added, “The President will always be grateful to Floridians for their unwavering support as MAGA loyalists, who voted for him all three times.”
During the Tuesday meeting, commissioners will also vote on the renaming of a road to “PBSO Motorman Highway” in honor of three motorcycle deputies killed in a crash.
A similar effort is underway in Texas, as a Texas state representative filed a bill to rename a portion of Interstate 35 to “President Donald J. Trump Highway.”
The interstate’s segment, in Travis County, is designed to honor President Trump for his “big, beautiful” impact on the state of Texas, a press release for the bill says.
The bill’s author, State Representative Joanne Shofner, said in a statement, “I want to congratulate President Donald J. Trump on his return to the White House. Under his leadership, America [will] once again be respected, and the prosperity that Texas has long enjoyed will be reflected across the nation. It is fitting that this designation is located in our state’s capital, recognizing a president whose impact on Texas and the country is profound and enduring.”
