Lily Stewart, the University of Georgia student whose smiling mugshot went viral earlier this month, has been arrested once again. Campus police took Stewart into custody on Sunday, charging her with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and loitering/prowling, both misdemeanors.
She was arrested along with three other individuals—Payton Drewer, Whitaker Tollman, and Seamus Gilmartin—who also face charges of loitering, prowling, and possession of a fake ID.
According to the police report, Stewart and the others attempted to enter the Tate Student Center after hours, triggering an alarm. When officers arrived, the group tried to walk away but was eventually detained. Police noted that all four appeared intoxicated, and Stewart reportedly told officers, “I didn’t want to get caught doing anything bad because I am out on bond right now.”
Stewart first made headlines on March 8 when she was pulled over twice within 10 minutes for speeding and booked at the Morgan County Jail. Her viral mugshot quickly spread across the internet, and in an interview with People Magazine, she acknowledged the public’s reaction to the photo.
“I look like a basic white girl, and I am,” Stewart said. “I think it’s hilarious. I actually think it’s a bad photo of me. If you see me in person, I don’t really look the same as I do in that mugshot.”
Despite claiming she had learned her lesson about speeding, Stewart now faces additional legal troubles. Her attorney, Stephen Morris, has declined to comment on her latest arrest.
