Delta Air Lines has offered $30,000 to each passenger of the flight that crashed in Toronto.
Should each passenger take the offer, Delta will hand over nearly $2.3 million.
A spokesperson for the company said Delta is telling passengers that the gesture “has no strings attached and does not affect rights.”
American Faith reported that the crash occurred on February 17, 2025, when Delta Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed upon landing in Toronto. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900, flipped upside down and caught fire during the landing. All 80 individuals on board survived, though 21 passengers sustained injuries.
As of Thursday morning, all hospitalized passengers had been released.
“The Delta and Endeavor families are grateful that all those injured Monday have been released from the hospital, and we extend our thanks to everyone who provided care to them over the past few days,” Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a statement. “We will continue to connect one-on-one with customers, employees and loved ones as we move forward to make sure their needs are met with care.”
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is leading the investigation into the crash, with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, Toronto Pearson Airport President and CEO Deborah Flint said earlier this week.
“The crew of Delta Flight 4819 heroically led passengers to safety, evacuating a jet that had overturned on the runway on landing that was amidst smoke and fire,” Flint said, as per CBS News. “Thank you for all that you do every day and every night in service of safe air travel.”
