Border Czar Tom Homan announced that illegal immigrant crossings are dramatically down since President Donald Trump took office.
Speaking to Maria Bartiromo of “Sunday Morning Futures,” Homan said, “We’ve got the numbers this morning. The crossings on the border are down 93%. 93%! That’s a bigger decrease than under the first Trump administration.”
“So, look, I said it, President Trump’s the game-changer,” he explained. “No one has had the success he’s had in securing the border. He clearly understands we can’t have strong national security if we don’t have border security. We need to know who’s coming in, what’s coming in, where it’s coming in, why it’s coming in.
“We’ve achieved success on the border already,” he continued. “We’ve got more work to do. And as far as the deportation operation, I think we got 5,000 arrested the first week, and a majority of them being criminals.”
Homan noted that “non-criminals” described by mainstream media outlets are “arrested in sanctuary cities because you force us into the community rather than arresting the bad guy in jail, and when we find that criminal, he’s most likely with others, and they’re going to go, too.”
“If you want to be a sanctuary city, you’re going to get exactly what you don’t want, more agents in the community, and more non-criminals arrested,” he said.
Several states, including Texas, Tennessee, and Florida, have initiated efforts to support the Trump administration’s deportation efforts. Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) announced last week that he directed the Texas Military Department to deploy the Texas Tactical Border Force to the Rio Grande Valley to work alongside the U.S. Border Patrol.
Similarly, the Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation supporting President Donald Trump’s deportation efforts. SB 6002 and HB 6001 create a division within the state’s Department of Safety (DOS) to enforce immigration laws.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) recently held roundtable discussions to address the need for legislation supporting border enforcement.
