Antioch High School students will gather on Tuesday for a student-led rally to honor the memory of their classmate Josselin Corea Escalante, who tragically lost her life last week in a cafeteria shooting.
The event, set to take place on the school’s football field, will bring together student leaders, members of the Antioch High School community, and special guests.
The rally serves a dual purpose:
- To pay tribute to Corea Escalante, whose death has deeply impacted the school community.
- To amplify student voices and advocate for action on the pressing issues brought to light by the tragic incident.
Student organizers are determined to ensure their message is heard as they push for meaningful changes to address school safety and prevent future tragedies.
Antioch High School continues to mourn the loss of their classmate while supporting efforts to drive critical conversations and reforms.
Earlier this week, a student-led “Rally for Antioch” is set to take place Monday at the Tennessee State Capitol, as young activists call for stricter gun legislation in the wake of a tragic school shooting.
The rally comes after the death of 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when a fellow student opened fire in the Antioch High School cafeteria.
“Every school shooting affects every student in the state of Tennessee,” said rally organizer Hannah Mosher, a senior at Hume-Fogg High School. “We are all scared, and we really need legislative action as soon as possible so this does not happen again.”
The rally coincided with a special legislative session, amplifying student voices calling for immediate action to curb gun violence.
