President Donald Trump wasted no time dismantling key policies from the Biden administration, rescinding 78 of Biden’s executive actions on Monday night. The sweeping order reverses a range of initiatives on diversity, border policy, and climate regulations that defined Biden’s presidency.
Trump’s executive order fulfills his campaign promise to undo Biden’s policies, many of which were implemented through executive authority. “I can undo almost everything Biden did,” Trump said in a statement, pointing to the ease with which executive actions can be reversed.
Reversal of DEI Policies
Among the rescinded orders is Biden’s first executive action, “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.” Trump also terminated all federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, which he criticized as divisive and unnecessary. “We will terminate every diversity, equity, and inclusion program across the entire federal government,” Trump declared.
Border Security Restored
Trump’s order reinstates several border security measures, reversing Biden’s executive orders on catch-and-release, deportation halts for criminal illegal aliens, and government-funded benefits for illegal immigrants. Trump emphasized the importance of securing the border, saying, “We’re going to have a great border… and we’re never going back.”
Climate and Energy Policies Overhauled
Trump also rolled back Biden’s climate agenda, targeting mandates on electric vehicles and restrictive emissions standards. His executive order repealed Biden’s EV mandate for 2030, reversed the cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline, and lifted restrictions on oil drilling and permitting. These changes aim to boost domestic energy production and reduce reliance on foreign sources.
Broader Policy Review
The executive order mandates a comprehensive review of all Biden-era executive actions, suggesting additional reversals in the months ahead. Trump’s administration has already withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accords, implemented a federal hiring freeze, and barred agencies from enacting new regulations without his approval.
According to a Fox News report, Trump is expected to sign more than 200 executive orders in his first day, signaling a rapid and aggressive shift in policy. Early actions also include measures to prevent federal censorship and end the weaponization of government agencies.
