Incoming Border Czar Tom Homan Plans Weekly Press Briefings to Highlight Illegal Immigrant Arrests

Incoming border czar Tom Homan, appointed by President-elect Donald Trump, has announced plans to hold weekly press briefings to provide the American people with updates on illegal immigrant arrests across the United States. This move comes as Trump and Homan push for a crackdown on illegal immigration and stronger border security.

During an interview with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Homan expressed his stance on the issue, saying, “Immigration enforcement has always been controversial. It’s always been emotional. I get it. But we’re a nation of laws, and we’re going to enforce those laws. If you come to this country illegally, that is a crime.” He added, “I’m sick and tired of hearing illegal aliens commit less crimes than American citizens. Every illegal alien is a criminal.”

Homan, who has faced death threats since his appointment, emphasized the importance of controlling the narrative around immigration enforcement. He told Kirk, “So the hate’s coming, but we need to control the messaging. Right? So I’ve told President Trump that what we need to do is have a weekly press briefing. Let’s show the American people who we arrested, why we arrested them, and where we arrested them—what kind of bad guys we arrested in that sanctuary city.”

In line with Trump’s priorities, Homan plans to focus on deporting illegal immigrants involved in gangs or violent crime. He outlined that priorities will include public safety threats, national security threats, and fugitives who failed to comply with federal court orders to leave the country.

Under the Biden administration, many of Trump’s border security policies were reversed, resulting in a surge in illegal immigration. Among the growing concerns is the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, which has expanded its operations across several U.S. states.
