Christian Brothers Arrested Over TikTok Video in Pakistan

Twin Christian brothers, Rahal and Tabish Masih, have been arrested in Pakistan under the country’s blasphemy laws after being accused of desecrating pages of the Quran during a village fair.

The charges came after the brothers, celebrating with other Christians, were accused by a man in the crowd of throwing pages containing Quranic verses while making a TikTok video. The accusation quickly led to violence, as a mob beat the brothers and surrounded their home, shouting anti-Christian slogans.

Despite the intense pressure, the Masih brothers have stood firm in their Christian faith. Tabish shared, “The first two days, the police pressured us to admit to this crime, but we prayed to Jesus to give us strength to bear the pressure and stay firm in our faith. And He did.”

This resolve underscores the brothers’ unwavering commitment to their belief in Christ, even in the face of false accusations and physical danger.

The brothers remain in prison, awaiting a court hearing, and the situation has forced their family and other Christians in the area to flee for their safety. Despite the uncertainty, Rahal remains hopeful, stating, “We still pray in lock-up that [Jesus] will deliver us from here.”

The case highlights the dangers Christians face in Pakistan, where blasphemy accusations can lead to violence and persecution, even when based on false or exaggerated claims.
