Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is planning to install Islamic foot wash stations inside bathrooms, according to a project detail from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The privately-funded project is expected to begin at the end of August and conclude at the end of December. “Project consists of adding Ablution stations to existing concourse level restrooms in Terminal D, one Men’s ablution station in existing men’s restroom and one Women’s ablution station in the existing women’s restroom,” it says.
It will cost around $300,000.
Chicago O’Hare International Airport also provides accommodations for Islamic travelers. The airport offers an Interfaith Room, a “dedicated space” for prayer and meditation, and provides an “open floor space to accommodate prayer with a Qibia compass and shoe storage, along with wooden benches.”
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has unveiled a massive project to remodel the Washington Dulles International Airport. President Trump has called the location “one of the worst airports anywhere in the world.”
“It’s considered one of the worst airports anywhere in the world, we’re going to make it maybe the best with some hard work,” Trump said. “This transformation is another step in our ongoing efforts to make Washington, D.C., safe and beautiful again.”
“It’s an impossible airport. You get off a bus and go into a train and from a train to another bus. It’s the worst airport,” Trump said from the Oval Office last month.
“Say goodbye to those stale concourses, endless walkways, and those absurd mobile lounges, and say hello to a state-of-the-art facility that will inspire millions of flyers for generations to come,” said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
