Nearly 14,000 Children Underwent Sex Changes in American Hospitals

Between 2019 and 2023, nearly 14,000 children underwent sex change treatments in the United States.

Medical watchdog Do No Harm launched a database called “Stop The Harm,” which “catalogs sex change treatments performed on minors throughout healthcare facilities in the United States.”

The database obtained its information from profiting children’s hospitals in states permitting sex change surgeries. It then analyzed insurance claims data to “properly assess which sex change procedures each hospital and healthcare facility administered to minors.”

According to the database, at least 13,994 children underwent sex change treatments. More than 5,500 minors had sex change surgeries, and more than 8,500 minors received hormones and puberty blockers.

The data noted that 62,682 sex change prescriptions were written for minors.

In total, the so-called treatments amounted to $119,791,202. The charges are likely not the final number, as the data does not include those who paid in cash, internal Veterans Affairs claims, or patients using Kaiser Health Plans.

The top three U.S. children’s hospitals promoting sex change treatments are the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and Children’s Minnesota.

The top three institutions in the United States that have billed for sex change treatments are Mount Sinai Medical Center, Boston’s Children’s Hospital, and the Surgery Center of Texas, LP.
